Raspberry Red Bows Engagement Cake
A generous mom in Short Hills NJ ordered this three tier almond cake with Madagascar vanilla bean filling to surprise her son and future bride at their Engagement party.
The bottom tier is a gift box in raspberry colored fondant with a lid in an embossed floral design. A second square tier has fondant hearts, while the round third tier has stripes and a white drape wavy lid, topped with a bunch of red fondant bows and several other large bows around the cake.

Wow! That is a truly beautiful cake!! Your bows are perfect! Would you be willing to share with me how you created that beautiful raspberry color? I've been experimenting and get nothing but a hot pink or a weird fuschia. Thanks so much!

Having been a guest at this perfect Short Hills party, I must tell you that this cake tasted as delicious and perfect as it looked. Yum!
ReplyDeleteLoren, thanks for the comment. I know what you are saying about achieving the right color, this was a real challenge. I found that starting with a base of red fondant, adding purple and some blue took the color towards rasberry/burgundy. I then diluted the color with white fondant to get a paler shade of raspberry that I needed on the bottom tier. You'll have to experiment as I don't recall the proportions. It took me a couple of tries.
ReplyDeleteGood luck!
