Stork and Pumpkin Twins Baby Shower Cake

A Stork and Pumpkin Twins Baby Shower Cake for Vickie's babies!

Inside is red velvet cake with fresh strawberries and bananas. We stacked a double size top cake tier, which provided a better canvas for the green fondant polka dots. The bottom tiers were decorated with ribbons, baby rattles, bottles and a fondant bow.

As a cake topper, we placed two fondant babies in a pumpkin, and a stork with mailbox delivery!

Delivered to the delightful Flowerland venue in Caldwell NJ

Rubber Ducky Baby Shower Cake

Sometimes I wonder whether the colors will look right. Originally we designed a blue cake for our customer, but settled on a two tier orange and fuschia fondant cake to match her final color scheme, and the cake really pops!

We baked pure white vanilla cake with Belgian dark chocolate cream and red velvet cake with cream cheese filling on the top tier.

The cake is decorated with yellow and green polka dots and a raft of rubber ducks sculted from fondant.

We were going to deliver to a Baby Shower in Chatham NJ, but that Halloween storm (which pulled down a big tree at home) took us instead to Warren NJ!

Monkey Box Birthday Cake with Balloons

We made this monkey themed specialty cake with yellow and blue stripes and polka dots, for a first birthday party at the Hilton Garden Hotel in Edison NJ. The 3" bottom tier is chocolate fudge cake with Madagascar vanilla bean filling, and the extra tall 6" second tier is red velvet cake with cream cheese filling.

I sculpted a monkey with chocolate cake that burst out of the top of the cake and inserted fondant ballons behind with the birthday boy's name. He also holds a birthday gift and wears a party hat.

Cake Decorating Class - Handbags

Earlier in the summer we held a cake decorating class to demonstrate how to make a handbag cake. It was a fun group and we had a great time.

We learned how to carve the cake into a handbag shape and then crumb coat the cake. Once the cake was slightly chilled we added a final coat of buttercream and then covered it with a piece of rolled fondant.

Finally each of the students chose whatever decoration they wanted to complete the bag design: fondant bows, cutouts, stripes, polka dots etc..

Special thanks to Lisa, Nancy and Cora for organizing the class.

Red velvet cake with cream cheese filling on the bottom tier, and yellow vanilla cake with dulce de leche cream filling on the top. The cake is covered in matching color fondant stripes, polka dots, with jungle animals (giraffe, lion and elephant) and gifts.

I also baked two dozen animal cookies as favors for the guests.

Yo Gabba Gabba! Cake and Cupcakes

The latest young kids craze is the Yo Gabba Gabba! TV show. For a second birthday party in Bergen County I made a vanilla cake with chocolate pudding filling, covered in a light green fondant.

I modeled the five main characters (Muno, Plex, Foofa, Toodee, and Brobee) out of sugar paste and added a birthday message on a sign.

An assortment of two dozen matching chocolate and vanilla flavor cupcakes with vanilla buttercream swirls, decorated with colored polka dots and small white sugar flowers complete the display.
