Cake Fiction voted The Knot Best of Weddings Winner 2010
Every year the Knot.com ask their readers to vote for the best wedding professionals in their region, and Cake Fiction was voted Best of Weddings winner for 2010 in the Wedding Cake Bakers category!
We have been working very hard for the past 12 months, paying special attention to the needs of brides, grooms, their family and friends that visit us for tastings and who trust us to create their dream wedding cake.
It is a privilege for me to deliver each and every one of those cakes, knowing how important the cake is for the couple and helping to make the wedding reception the best it can be.
Simon and I want to thank all the brides and grooms that nominated Cake Fiction and have rewarded us with this tremendous recognition from a renowned publisher. We hope to welcome you all back again for baby showers, baptisms and many happy anniversary cakes!

Blue and White Orchids Sweet Sixteen Cake
We delivered a hundred assorted cupcakes and a matching cake to Ariana's Grand in Woodbridge NJ for a sweet sixteen party.
On top of the acrylic stand is a two tier sweet sixteen red velvet cake that has cream cheese filling. It is covered in blue and white fondant to match the orchids on top, each of which has a blue edible jewel in the center. Silver dragees, sugar pearls and blue gems form the number 16, and silver fondant pearls surround each tier.
Red velvet, vanilla, chocolate fudge and carrot cake were chosen by the birthday girl for the assortment, and topped with a swirl of cream cheese, oreo cream, chocolate and cream cheese fillings. Each cupcake had a small white sugar flower with a blue edible gem in the center.
Sixteen candles set in a white fondant holder encircle the display.

Buzz Lightyear Birthday Cake
"To infinity ... and beyond!"
For a 5th birthday party at Unbelieva-Bills in Montclair NJ I was asked to create this Buzz Lightyear cake. Both tiers are yellow cake with chocolate buttercream, covered in white and blue fondant.
The cake is decorated with stars, planets, a rocket ship and some characters from Disney's Toy Story (including Mr. Potato Head, an alien, pig and Woody's Cowboy hat). Buzz Lightyear stands on top of the cake ready to soar to the stars!

Sleepy skies stars and moon cake
For a sleep over movie night party in South Orange NJ I designed this round three tier cake with the birthday girl sitting on a moon. One tier was vanilla cake, the others had mixed layers of red velvet and chocolate fudge cake, and all with raspberry chocolate filling.
The varying shades of blue fondant take the cake from day to night, and starting with piped clouds rising to the fondant stars and shooting stars. Since she loves color, the birthday star also requested a rainbow backdrop!

Ultimate Fighting Championship Cake
What better for a fan of the Ultimate Fighting Championship than a UFC ring cake? This octagonal ring is made with layers of vanilla and chocolate fudge cake, plus a delicious cannoli filling. The cake is covered in a light gray fondant, with a mesh ring surround. Additional decorations include a pair of boxing gloves, a UFC champions belt and the sponsors logos (Bud Light, Harley Davidson Mortorcycles and TapOut). I know it's gruesome, but I also had a special request to add a splat of fondant blood on the ring! The cake was delivered to the birthday party in Fairfield NJ.

Cocktail for Wedding Vendors at W Hoboken
I was very excited to receive an invitation to a cocktail at the W Hotel in Hoboken organized by Salome at Always a Bridesmaid New Jersey.
This was a wonderful opportunity to chat with a variety of wedding service vendors from around the Tri-State area to share ideas and contacts. We met some lovely people, including Make-up Artists and Salons, Floral Designers, Photographers, Bridal Accessories stores and caterers. No doubt we'll be working with some of them in future to arrange shows and presentations, so soon I'll add those names to a preferred vendor page on my website.
The cocktail took place in the Chandelier Room, a really cool bar with an amazing panoramic view across the Hudson River to Midtown and Downtown New York. We got to see a huge full moon rise over Manhattan. Thanks so much to Salome and the W Hotel for hosting this event.
