Stars and Stripes Cake for 13th Birthday

At the weekend we delivered this 3-tier thirteenth birthday cake to Union NJ. Red Velvet cake was filled with cream cheese butter cream, covered in apple green fondant, with pink stripes and multi-colored shooting stars.
We arranged a special cake tasting the previous week for the birthday girl so that she could pick her favorite combination of cake and filling, although the stars and stripe theme was a surprise from her very generous Aunt. I can't recall a cake tasting where the customer had such an expression on their face of delight and discovery, it was a pleasure baking this one!

Running up the Wonky Cake

I was asked to create a 50th birthday cake for a wine connoisseur and marathon runner in Montclair NJ. I designed a three-tier wonky French vanilla cake with orange chocolate cream filling. The cake was covered in dark chocolate fondant, with violet and green stripes. The tier separators were decorated with green stephanotis flowers and I encircled the lower tier with glittering purple fondant pearls. The cake sat on a chocolate fondant base wrapped in a green ribbon. It was fun designing the runner, the biggest challenge is always what to do with the arms, I opted for the victor's pose!

Spring is here, Easter Bunny spotted at Cake Fiction!

What a glorious day, it was too cold at Easter to make you believe Spring had arrived, but now I can make my first post. The kids' skis are put away and my customers want to eat lots of cake! We had fun making this Easter Bunny cake and mini-cakes order for a Spring Break holiday party.
